At the beginning of each month, I do 2 things with my photos. First, I create an archival (tiff) backup, and, second, I go through and rate my favorites.
I don’t have any real criteria for selecting favorites, just whatever looks especially appealing to me.
Since we’re at the halfway point of 2020, I thought I would share some of my favorites so far. I rated 44 favorites which seems like a lot for a blog post so here are 21 of them (which may also be a bit much). The rest can be found in my Flickr album.
Canon AE-1 (Ilford HP5 Plus)

Minolta Hi-Matic 11 (Kodak Gold 200)

Olympus TG-5 (Macro Setting)

Olympus TG-5

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV (Canon EF 17-40mm f/4)

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV (Canon EF 85mm f/1.8)

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV (Canon EF 28-80 f/3.5-5.6)
with an Opteka Achromatic 10X Diopter

Flexaret Automat (Rollei RPX)

Minolta X-700 (Kodak Gold)

Canon EOS Rebel 2000 (Kodak Portra)

Olympus OM-1 (Lomography Color Negative)

Minolta Autopak 450Ex (Lomography Tiger Color)

I am surprised by a couple of things from this group of favorites.
One is that I have 4 photos using my Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 lens. I have wondered before about how much I like that lens and how useful it is for my style of shooting. I may have answered my question.
The other is that a photo from my Minolta AutoPak 450EX appears here. It’s not so much that it’s a good picture, objectively speaking. But between the desaturated and slightly yellow-ish tone and the imperfection running across the top, it looks like a picture taken in the 1970s (other than the cars). It’s a kind of “it’s so bad it’s good” photo.
As I mentioned, there are more favorites in my Flickr album.
