Canon Rebel 2000 with Kodak Color Plus

A few weeks ago, Holly and I went for a walk along the west side of the Schuylkill River. I wanted to shoot film but also wanted to make sure I got some reliably good photos so I brought my Canon EOS Rebel 2000 loaded with Kodak Color Plus 200 using my Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 lens.

I also brought along my Olympus Pen-EE3 thinking I may want to use that for the walk home through the city.

I was very glad I had a second camera with me since after 2 shots along our walk to the river and 6 shots along the river, the batteries in the Rebel died. I had this issue with that camera before when the batteries died with no warning. I even checked the battery level before we left, and it looked fine.

I haven’t gotten the film developed from the Pen-EE3. It’s a half-frame camera so it shoots 72 pictures, with a 36 exposure film, which means it takes a while to finish a roll. But I did get the roll from the Rebel developed.

After I got new batteries, I finished the roll a week later when we took a fun walk to places we hadn’t been to before.

We walked through part of the campuses of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, which we’ve been through before.

After that, we explored some new areas. We found a cute little park, the James G. Kaskey Memorial Park, which was looking very spring like and had a pond with turtles. Close by was a cool building we had never seen before, the Stephen A. Levin Building.

Finally, we walked through The Woodlands which is a cemetery and park in West Philadelphia. We had been by it several times but had never gone in.

Although I was disappointed that my batteries died during our Schuylkill River walk, I was glad that we went on another scenic walk soon after.
