Canon AE-1 with Kodak Color Plus

posted in: Photography | 1

I shot a roll of Kodak Color Plus with my Canon AE-1 over 2 outings.

The first was a walk Holly and I had taken west of where we live. We started off walking along Walnut Street and then wended a bit through the University of Pennsylvania. It was a slightly overcast day but the Color Plus responded well. For the entire roll, I used my Canon FD 28mm f/2.8 lens.

The other outing was during one of our usual neighborhood walks.

Something I’ve been trying to determine the past few months is which of my cameras I want to prioritize. I either have too many cameras or don’t go out shooting enough to feel entirely comfortable with most of my cameras. I’ve mentioned before that I would like to decide on a few cameras to use more regularly.

I have always been pleased with the results from my AE-1.

But for some reason, I don’t quite enjoy shooting with it as much as a couple of my other SLRs, such as my Olympus OM-1, my Minolta XE, and my Minolta X-700. The results from these other cameras are usually reliable as well. I have had some mechanical issues with the OM-1 so I foresee prioritizing my 2 Minolta SLRs.

IMHO, you have too many cameras and are suffering from the tyranny of choice, what some people call FOMO. Stick with the Minolta X-700. It’s reliable, but more importantly, you enjoy using it.

You exposed the Color Plus nicely. I’ve not had good results, but I’ll keep trying.

I miss walking Philly with a camera. Maybe next month I can convince my wife to dine out somewhere in Old City.
